The Euchre Tournament

My first fundraising event was a Euchre Tournament held on April 3rd. It was held at the home of some very good friends of ours - the house is actually for sale at the moment if anyone is interested.

The tournament was a huge success and fun for all as you can see from the photos. The lady in green was the big winner! Over 30 guests attended and we earned over $700 to purchase supplies for our installations.

The beginnings...

I became involved with SonLight Power , a registered 501(c)3, while I was "in transition" last summer and felt called to participate in a mission trip with this organization to Honduras. I kept trying to ignore it but God kept nudging me. So I said yes!

This is a completely new venture for me and a little scary. You might call it a leap of faith.

We will be gone one week and during that time will install solar panels in 3 schools in the very poorest areas of Honduras. But we need help to purchase the equipment needed for the installations.

Please visit the website www.sonlightpower.org for more info. I could go on and on but I don't want this to get too long and the website does a better job.

With the help of my very generous and supportive family and friends I have been able to raise enough funds to sponsor one school. ($3500 per school for the installation equipment) . With additional funds raised I will be able to help support other teams who are going to Honduras this summer.

I have a couple options below you can choose from to help monetarily, spiritually or physically. Any support will make a huge impact in the lives of the children of Honduras.

You can help by… (Pick as many as you like)

1) Making a tax deductible donation to SonLight Power to purchase equipment for an installation. No amount is too large or small.
2) Prayers! I understand that this is a tough time for many and I definitely need prayers to reach this goal.
3) Joining a mission trip. If you would like to participate on one of the mission trips to Honduras coming up this summer click here for more details. We need more mission volunteers.
4) Forwarding this to a friend who might be interested in any of the above or just interested in Solar Energy.

Welcome

I have decided to try my hand at blogging. I thought it might be easier than managing all those email addresses. As most of you who will be reading this know, I will be leaving for a Mission Trip to Honduras on Friday, June 5th. I will only be gone a week - but this is a totally new venture for me. I hope to be able to update this blog daily (or as often as I have internet access).

Please leave me a comment when you visit - it will spur me on to keep it updated.

For those of you who have not been in the loop (or on my email list) for the past 6 months. I will summarize my activities to date along with photos in subsequent posts.
